Staying positive and proactive (instead of negative and reactive) about ways to pivot to prepare and serve the best we can is the best thing to do.
Breathe mindfully
Bring your awareness to your breath and take a long and deep inhale through your nose, hold it for a second, and exhale throughout your mouth. Do it at least five more times, exhaling slowly through your nose with your eyes closed. (It takes less than a minute) If you did it, congratulations, you just meditated.
Acknowledge your emotions
IT IS OK TO FEEL HOW YOU FEEL. We are living in a fast-moving global situation that has no precedent in modern times. AKA crazy times.
Try it. You can use the following as an example.
I feel _________ because of _________.
Reframe your thoughts
The trick is to identify the thoughts and patterns causing those emotions and to take control of them.
I feel __________ because _______; however, today I have ____________ and feel grateful for ___________________, ___________, and __________.
Gratitude goes a long way my friends!
Ask yourself the right questions.
Can I control this situation?
What can I do today that future – insert your name here – will be grateful for?
What would make me feel better?
What can I be excited about?
Take action
Take precautions and follow instructions from a place of love and community. We are in this together. Think we before I.
Fall in love with your hobbies again, start practicing yoga, create a new morning routine, redecorate, garden, read, or make a six-week plan to launch future services, products, businesses, and start working on it, paint your nails or rewatch your fav show.
Help
Helping is like therapy for the soul, and this is an excellent time for it. Do it from your house unless you are delivering or being a hero in the front line.
We all have different personalities and ways to manage stress. When things get hard, remember how blessed you are. Consider that there are communities and countries where the lack of toilet paper doesn’t even come to mind.
I didn’t mean to go as long with this, but these habits have helped me for years, so I felt the need to share this today. 🙂
